The Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, successfully held a Guest Lecture on qualitative research methods, focusing on ethnographic research, on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, at the Theatre Room, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Science and Technology.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Erica M. Larson, a researcher from the National University of Singapore (NUS), who was invited as a distinguished speaker. In her presentation entitled “Ethnographic Research Method: The Art of Deep Observation and Asking ‘Why’,” Dr. Larson shared in-depth insights into ethnographic approaches, emphasizing the importance of immersive observation, contextual understanding, and critical questioning in qualitative research.

The session was moderated by Dr. Puspi Eko Wiranthi, S.E., M.Si., M.Sc., who guided the discussion and facilitated an interactive exchange between the speaker and participants. Under her moderation, the event encouraged active engagement, allowing students and lecturers to explore practical applications of ethnography in agribusiness and social research contexts.

This academic activity aimed to broaden students’ understanding of qualitative and ethnographic research methods, particularly for those preparing theses and conducting field-based research. The lecture also provided valuable perspectives on how ethnography can be applied to analyze social, cultural, and behavioral dimensions within agribusiness systems.
