The peak event of the GANTARI 2026 National Seminar was successfully held on Thursday (24/9) at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Centered on the theme "Youth Regeneration as the Driver of Sustainability and Food Self-Sufficiency in Indonesia", the event brought together prominent figures from government ministries, the military, research institutes, state-owned enterprises, and agricultural practitioners. The seminar opened with remarks from the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., followed by a Keynote Speech from the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. H. Andi Amran Sulaiman, M.P. In his address, Minister Amran urged the academic community to ensure that academic achievements go beyond titles on paper and directly impact the welfare of farmers in the field.
During the first panel discussion, General Chairman of the Indonesian Agronomists Association (PISPI) and Professor of Agribusiness at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Achmad Tjachja Nugraha, M.P., highlighted five core pillars that serve as the foundation toward sustainable food self-sufficiency. These pillars comprise the protection of productive land and water resources, technological innovation and digitalization through smart farming, human resource development focused on youth regeneration, institutional and financing support for farmers, as well as fair trading systems and policy certainty.
The direction of national food policy was further reinforced by other prominent panelists during the sessions. Rear Admiral TNI Heri Triwibowo, S.E., M.Si. (Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Fleet Command / Kaskoarmada RI) emphasized the critical role of youth and maritime logistics security in safeguarding national food sovereignty, while Dr. Ir. Prahasto Setyanto, M.Sc. (Director of Procurement, BULOG) discussed crop absorption strategies and national stock stability.
The second panel session further connected academic research with practical industry implementations (From Research to Impact). Moderated by Agribusiness Lecturer Dewi Rohma Wati, S.P., M.Si., the session featured Puji Lestari, Ph.D. from BRIN, Dodot Tri Widodo as President Director of Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, and Iqbal Habibi, a young farmer and founder of Tamara Agro Farm who shared real-world inspiration encouraging the younger generation to confidently enter the agribusiness sector. Through the organizing of the GANTARI 2026 National Seminar, the Agribusiness Study Program at UIN Jakarta reaffirms its commitment to producing competitive young leaders ready to safeguard Indonesia's food self-sufficiency
