The Faculty of Science and Technology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held an international accreditation visitation by the German accreditation institution, ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics) for the Agribusiness cluster on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The activity, which took place in the Diorama Meeting Room, Harun Nasution Auditorium, is part of the Faculty's efforts to improve academic quality and international recognition of the Agribusiness study program.
In his remarks, the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, MA, Ph.D., expressed his support for the implementation of this visitation as an important step to advance the quality of education at UIN Jakarta, especially in the field of agribusiness. "International accreditation is a global recognition that will increase the competitiveness of our graduates. This also shows UIN Jakarta's commitment to providing high-quality education that is relevant to global needs," said Prof. Asep.
This activity was attended by assessors from ASIIN and peer groups consisting of academics and international practitioners. Among them, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Braun from Nürtingen-Geislingen University (HfWU), Prof. Dr. Alexander Stoy from the University of Applied Sciences Kiel, Almansyah Sinatrya from PT Tempu Rejo, Mohammad Nafi Izzuddin, a student representative from the Islamic University of Malang. In addition, Johann Jakob Winter from the ASIIN Office was also present as a representative of the accreditation institution.
Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Husni Tedja, Ph.D., expressed his gratitude for the implementation of this visitation. He emphasized that this process is part of the faculty's strategic steps in achieving international recognition. "We are very excited about this visitation because it will provide us with new insights and objective evaluations from international experts. This is expected to encourage the Agribusiness study program to continue to develop and meet international education standards," he said.
Head of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Khamami Zada, SH, MA, M.DC., added that ASIIN accreditation will be an important momentum for UIN Jakarta to strengthen its academic standards. "The quality of education at UIN Jakarta continues to be improved through various efforts including international accreditation. We hope that with this accreditation, the Agribusiness study program can continue to produce graduates who are superior, competitive, and ready to face global challenges," he said.Accredited study programs include the Agribusiness Study Program (S1) and the Agribusiness Masters Program (S2). Both programs are designed to prepare students to become agribusiness experts who have academic competence and practical skills ready to compete at national and international levels.
The visitation included a review of the curriculum, facilities, and learning process, as well as discussions with lecturers, students, and education staff. An in-depth evaluation was conducted by peer groups to ensure that the Agribusiness study program at UIN Jakarta meets the standards set by ASIIN.The visitation activity ended with a joint discussion session and a field visit to review the learning support facilities at the Faculty of Science and Technology. The results of this visitation are expected to be announced soon, and UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is optimistic that it will obtain international accreditation that can provide added value for the entire academic community.
