Prof. Siti Rohaini is a senior professor in the Agribusiness Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta who joined the institution in 2006, after previously serving since March 1989 at Pattimura University in Ambon. Born in Ambon on March 8, 1962, she possesses a comprehensive educational background in agriculture and management. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Social Economics, a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics, and a Doctorate in Management Science with a concentration in Human Resource Management.
Integrated Coconut Research and Product Innovations
In her current research activities, Prof. Siti Rohaini focuses on the circular economy of coconuts. Her research aims to optimize coconut processing from end-to-end to support zero-waste sustainability. One of her key product innovations includes “Slow Aging Face Oil,” derived from fermented Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), which has been registered under the “Nani” trademark with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) and is commercially available on e-commerce platforms like Shopee and Instagram. In addition to cosmetic products, her research team is currently developing high-grade briquettes from coconut shells, which hold strong export potential for room heating in European countries. Beyond coconut-based research, she has also developed personal care items utilizing Eco-Enzyme, such as liquid hand soaps and herbal shampoos targeting scalp problems.
Educational Philosophy: Emphasizing Attitude and Integrity
Interacting closely with current students, Prof. Siti Rohaini places high priority on attitude and character building over mere technical skills and knowledge. She emphasizes that while knowledge and skills can easily be learned through online resources and internet packages, maintaining academic honesty and moral attitude remains paramount. She specifically reminds students to maintain integrity and avoid dishonest practices, such as misusing artificial intelligence (AI) in their academic assignments.
Strategic Vision for the Agribusiness Study Program
Looking toward the future, Prof. Siti Rohaini shares an ambitious vision for the institution. Supported by three full professors and international accreditation status, she advocates for the establishment of a Doctoral (S3) Program in Agribusiness. Furthermore, she highlights the importance of allocating more faculty members to strengthen the program's teaching capacity. Ultimately, given the study program's comprehensive academic offerings across three concentrations of Agribusiness Management, Agrotechnology, and Agricultural Extension she envisions the transformation of the study program into an independent Faculty of Agriculture at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
