Prof. Dr. KH Achmad Tjachja, a distinguished professor at the Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, continues to demonstrate his dedication not only in the academic world but also in impactful social initiatives.
On August 23, 2025, in collaboration with Hidir Foundation, the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), and several academic institutions, Prof. Tjachja initiated a large-scale social program entitled “Sedekah dan Doa Kemerdekaan” (Charity and Prayer for Independence). The event was held at Ginaya Corner, Tasikmalaya, to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

This innovative program provided digital-based assistance to 8,000 orphans and 2,000 underprivileged residents in Tasikmalaya and Ciamis. Instead of cash, aid was distributed through the Information Digital System (IDS) using personalized barcodes, allowing recipients to redeem Rp20,000 worth of goods at local SMEs. This approach not only ensured transparency and accuracy in aid distribution but also stimulated the local economy.
“With this digital model, aid distribution becomes more transparent and well-targeted. Orphans are helped, and small business owners also feel the positive impact,” Prof. Tjachja explained. He further emphasized that the true meaning of independence is not only about national sovereignty but also about liberating children from sadness and malnutrition, symbolizing social independence.
The initiative also resonated with the government’s vision of a National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSEN) system, aligning with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction toward more efficient and accurate aid distribution.
The Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Muhammad Ali, expressed strong support for this socially-driven technological innovation, stating, “We are not only here to guard the seas, but also to stand with the people. The synergy of all parties will strengthen our nation and uphold Indonesia’s dignity.”
The program left a deep impression on its beneficiaries. Dewi, a 12-year-old orphan, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “Thank you to the Indonesian Navy officers for your kindness. Please don’t leave us behind.” Another recipient, Euis, admitted it was her first time using barcode-based transactions, saying: “Alhamdulillah, it was easy. Just scan, and we can buy any food. Not complicated at all.”
Through this initiative, Prof. Dr. KH Achmad Tjachja has set an example of how the integration of technology, compassion, and community empowerment can embody the spirit of independence in a meaningful way. His leadership reflects the values upheld by the Agribusiness Study Program of UIN Jakarta, where innovation meets social responsibility.
