Field Practice for UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Students was carried out in the Gunung Walat University Forest on Thursday 25 November 2010.

The field practice participants were 43 students from the Agribusiness Department, Faculty of Science and Technology, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. They were also accompanied by lecturers Iwan Aminuddin, M.Si and Iping Ruspendi, SP.

This field practice is a practicum on the basics of soil science which is carried out every year by regular visits to the Gunung Walat University Forest and this is the 5th visit.

"In the soil practicum, soil conditions are required that are relatively undisturbed, still pure without any processing. Gunung Walat has the criteria we need for this practicum, that's why we come here every year," said Iwan Aminuddin.

This practical activity includes direct observation in the forest, taking soil data, determining plant types that are suitable for development in GWUF, and so on.

"This activity also aims to open up students' insight into agriculture, not viewing agriculture as just food crop commodities, but also forestry commodities in it," he added.
